The pickup experience was a bit inefficient and slow. The Kayak booking acceptance email directed us to Cairns airport terminal 1, but the actual pickup office for Alamo was in terminal 2. The office couldn’t be contacted by phone. When we eventually found the office., after asking around, the pickup process was slow. But once we got the car it was a good vehicle and our overall experience was good. Drop off was easy.

The rental worked well. Pickup quick and easy. Car was a dream to drive. Nobody at drop off, dropped keys and was told they would check it in and send the invoice. Unfortunately we were charged twice for different amounts and no one answers the phone when you ring. Waiting for a response to our email.

The hire was actually through the sub-company, East Coast Car Rentals. The only bad thing was the base package which we initially signed up for had a mandatory $4,000 excess for ANY damage, even if at fault or not, plus a $1,000 hold. So we opted to upgrade for an extra $50-60 per day for the $0 excess and no hold.

Only one person at desk to check in customers, previous customer took forever to get checked in and even though I had provided all driver info online I still took 15-20 mins to check in. The car - a hybrid - was very easy to find and drive out of the airport environment. The hybrid was very fuel efficient and should be used as much as possible for rentals now.

The car was crappy and the service was worse. Called Canberra airport drop off and got some customer service who couldn’t give me the actual number to the drop off. Left something in the car and the car had problems and no one called us back. Terrible service and the car was a piece of junk. Unsafe. Won’t use Avis in the future

Pickup was excellent, drop-off was super busy. There was no running through with pictures of car for existing damage check etc., which I have had with all other car hires so I was a little apprehensive of issues, however all turned out well. I was not aware that this was a European car, set up for euro driving, in Australia. Hence I had issues with windscreen wipers and indicators. Also the lights were a problem, I did end up with a flat battery due to not realising parkers were on, I thought it was off, the off button on the steering wheel didn't turn to off, and when locked the car it clearly also didn't auto turn lights off. Last comment was that I did not realize that the cost when I booked was in USD?! So it cost $120 more than I expected Otherwise nice to drive, thanks

AWESOME customer service, quick and easy and ready to go. When I had arrrived at Goldcoast Airport after a flight i just wanted to get the car and drive to my hotel. Hiring a car was hassle free and at a great price. The car was a recent model with GPS which was helpful when I had to navigate to my tourist attractions. Clean and tidy car. Loved the experience and will hire from them in the future - VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER 😀
