Subaru car hires in Edinburgh

Drop off with John at Avis was really great! Such courteous and friendly service. So nice to see such professionalism. Would be great to have instructions in the car for using Satnav maps. I used my iPhone but was a little confused with car screen presentation at times. Overall a fabulous experience and would definitely recommend Avis at this location.

Cameron was friendly, informative, helpful and has a great sense of humour. The car, while small for someone 6’4”, was comfortable and had all the necessary amenities (except sat nav).

Everything went smooth and the people were very friendly and helpful. They made sure the car was perfect before I left and that I understood how to work the controls. Be sure to ask because some things in Europe aren’t intuitive such as reverse or opening the gas tank. Overall my experience with them and the was wonderful

I was hugely disappointed overall. Just to change the pick up from city center to the airport turned out to be impossible. The location in city center is very difficult to find, even by cabbies. And to get a car big enough to accommodate our luggage, that had been fully explained in our request last September, cost an additional 500 pounds. What was a good deal turned into exploitation. Either lose all our prepaid money or pony up the extra money and drag all our luggage into the city center to get a bigger car. We’re all in our sixties— not good customer service to me! With Hertz, we spent half us much for two weeks as we spent for one week with Sixt. Kane at the airport and Adam at city center were very helpful at getting us in a larger vehicle but at a cost. On the other hand, the online assistance was non existent. Rude, extremely slow to respond and not helpful. I won’t be using Sixt again.

Flight was cancelled so had to change my reservation to a day later and was told the price had changed - doubled, in fact. $300 cancellation fee, so I had to pay double the price. Was supposed to pay about $500 and ended up paying $1,200.

Konrad is a star. He was helpful (and not in a pushy way) on what terrain to expect and needs for space. Just fantastic as was his colleague. who actually brought the car to us for our convenience. SUPER. Drop off at the Edinburgh Airport is not intuitive and quite difficult in the dark and rain.

I had to wait almost an hour in Edinburgh to speak to an agent. Europcar would not accept that my credit card and my own auto insurance cover insurance and I was obliged to pay an extra 20 pounds per day for collision damage waiver. They said if I had booked directly and not through Rentalcars..com collision would have been included so I will only book directly with companies in future. On the other hand the staff member was helpful when they did not have the car I reserved and they did upgrade me.

Our car was not available when we arrived and it took 2.5 hours for them to get a new one. The replacement car was much larger so they charged us double for the “upgrade”. Very unhappy with the experience.

My car rental agent was excellent!! He is the bomb (originally from Spain). The wait time in order to be helped was quite long, so Europcar could be better about staffing enough agents but the agents that they do have are fantastic .

Because of a late flight, my wife and daughter did not get to the Hertz office in time to pick up the rental. They had to arrange to pick it up the next day losing a day of the intended contract. For them to do this, they charged an extra $150.00!! Thank you Hertz, I will not be back.
