Convertible Car Hire in Zadar, Croatia

When booking thru Kayak i specifically filtered for car rentals available at the terminal. Uppon arrival I was made aware (after checking everywhere for their office and finally calling them) that they are in fact not at the aiport. As a result of that we had to get picked up by a shuttle and taken to a location outside of the airport to pick up the car. When I booked the rental I indicated that the return would be at 8am - being this the latest time we would return it since our flight was just after 9am. Our intention was to return the car where we picked it up - at the aiport, and then fly out. When I picked up the car at the location outside of the aiport I let them know I would be returning the car around 7:30am to have time to take the shuttle to the aiport and make it on our flight. They then told us they don’t open until 8am and that if we wanted to return it at 7:30am it would incur a 50€ surcharge. The alternative they gave us was to return the car at 11pm the night before the flight and to take an Uber to our hotel and then another Uber to the airport in the morning. Our hotel was not in a busy part of town and getting an Uber to pick us up and drop us off was not easy. Overall a poor experience.
