not enough service people at pick up counter in Richmond, even at peak hours.. had to wait 40 min for pickup drop off was very confusing at BWI.. had to just leave the car in a huge return area.. there was no attendant.. did not like the experience

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The gentleman helped me with my phone getting linked to the car. I had a bad experience with a local Enterprise rental at home...the manager had given me an e-mail that on my next rental I could have a discount or upgrade. On this trip, the manager graciously gave me a nice upgrade for free. GREAT SERVICE!!!

I will not be renting from Avis again at least at this location as I waited 4 hours to pick up my vehicle. If anything I'd like a half of refund for the cost of the rental for that horrible experience. There's no reason then you had such a few staff members on with so many people in line to pick up vehicles

The Hertz staff was pretty disorganized. Pick-up took 45 minutes or more. I was not asked if I wanted to pre-purchase gas but was charged for it, even though I filled the tank before returning. Probably my fault because I did not read the Rental Record before I filled up but I rarely request pre-purchase.

The line at the airport to pick up was long with one person working. Customer at front of line couldn’t get any of his credit cards to work. Took forever. I wanted to add my husband as a driver and was told it was $13/day extra. Didn’t want the extra charge so I had to do all the driving. We were told the wrong car to go to and it didn’t match our paperwork so it took more time getting it straightened out and more time when we tried to get out.

1st of all, dollar was not even open and we had to check out with Hertz. Secondly, they didn't have the kind of car that I reserved, so I ended up paying an extra $100, plus fees which came to an additional $200 above what I had already paid and reserved. Thirdly, the car was in need of servicing, and they said they didn't have another car to give me so I had to drive it around with the oil light flashing on the entire time. Because of this, we did not feel safe going to Shenandoah Park, which was supposed to be a major part of our trip. I will never rent from Dollar again.

They gave me a car that had broken down the day before, without properly fixing it. So I experienced transmission problems while on a bridge with no where to pull over, which put us in danger. The only reason I know that the car had previous transmission problems because we somehow got assigned the same tow truck driver who recognized the vehicle from the day before. Dollar was seriously negligent. I will never be renting from Dollar or their parent company Hertz ever again because I cannot support a company who willfully puts their customers in danger.

Alamo could start by telling customers up front that they charge a $300 deposit on top of what they charge for the rental. They could also actually cancel the reservation when requested instead of saying “It will cancel itself.” I paid up front for extra insurance that they also did not bother to address refunding.
