The staff at the Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty window in St. Barth's were very nice. However, I got a flat tire on day 2 and they charged me for the new tire! Really? How was that my cost/issue. It was simply added to my bill which was emailed after I had flow off the island. Given the language barrier and distance, I don't see any way to effectively argue with this, so I am out 209 euros.

Despite what they tell you, including providing a physical address for picking up the car at the Gustavia ferry port, Hertz is non-existent. Apparently, what they don’t tell you is that you have to get a ride from the ferry terminal to the airport to pick up the rental car. Had we been told this, we would not have bothered with Hertz. We ended up not renting from them because our day trip plans to SBH were in jeopardy as a result and instead, found a local car rental place a few blocks down from the ferry terminal, paid 80 euro for the rental and went on our way. Stay away if you plan to rent from Hertz at the ferry terminal.

Failed to meet us at the specified Harbor pickup location. Had to call airport location asking where the pick-up was and only then they were going to send someone. Wasted over an hour of our planned 4 hour rental so I canceled the reservation. Note I clearly indicated Harbor Pick-up as it was a selection option on there website and more expensive than a airport rental and it was an option. I did see Avis meeting customers and Maurice Car Rental meeting customers there.
