Their system doesn't update for over 36 hours from when cars are checked in/out. So even though it said they had a minivan available, which I specifically needed to hold us all, they didn't. The woman at the front desk was clearly a seasoned employee and couldn't care less about helping me in any way. She was rather dismissive and rude and basically told me I had to figure it out and to go away. I ended up having to look up every Enterprise in a 50 mile radius on my phone and call them individually in hopes of getting a minivan. She could've easily looked it up on her computer, but that was too much effort I guess. After spending an hour doing this and having no luck, I went back to the desk and spoke to another employee who was infinitely more helpful. He explained there had been a marathon in town, so all the minivans were out, but there should be a few returned in the morning. We needed to leave for our trip in the morning so I told him that worked great and I booked one in hopes it'd be ready in time. Fortunately it worked out and we left in time! It was the most frustrating customer experience I've ever had though, especially since the rude employee was clearly an"untouchable veteran" of the company
Person arriving to pick-up lane next to us was told "That vehicle is no longer available. The reservation was for 1:00 p.m., it is 4:30 p.m. We have no other cars available today" No apology, no sympathy, just an offer of picking up a car the next day. If that sounds insane because airports have delayed arrivals all the time, it is; that is NOT Avis policy. But since now I know that this could happen to me, I sure won't ever rent from Avis again

The vehicle had 64,000 miles with worn out front tires and very dirty. It was supposed to be an upgrade. This is the second time in Wilmington NC for a very dirty rental. This my last Budget rental for this location.

The staff behind the desk was friendly and helpful. However, the car that we were given wasn't clean. There was dust/dirt all over the outside, and-- to make matters worse-- there was no windshield wiper fluid in the vehicle (front or rear) to clean the windows. I had to do it manually at a gas station.
