Blessed with a beautiful, mild climate all year round, Benidorm is a great holiday destination at any time of the year. Summer months from May – October are hot and sunny, with average temperatures of 18 – 25 degrees Celsius. This is a great time to visit. Winters are also mild, and even in the coldest months of January – February, the temperatures rarely fall below 12 degrees Celsius. From September – October, there is plenty of rainfall, so if you are travelling around that time, remember to pack an umbrella.
The old town of Benidorm is a good place to explore on foot. Similarly, to do justice to the Playa de Levante, it is best to stroll along the 2-kilometre long promenade of Avenue d’Alcoy. To explore the rest of Benidorm, hop on to the buses operated by LLorente Bus. A single ticket on most routes costs €1.50 EUR, while a 24-hour card costs €11.00 EUR. Benidorm has an affordable taxi service, and it is easy to spot the white vehicles with a blue stripe. Outside of Benidorm, you can explore the traditional Spanish town of Gata de Gorges or Denia via a spectacular tram ride which takes you through the beautiful, rugged countryside. To go to the nearby Benidorm Island (Peacock Island), regular boat services are available from the Benidorm harbour.
A sleepy fishing village until the late ‘60s transformed into a sprawling and dynamic beach destination in Spain’s Costa Blanca, Benidorm can be described in 2 words: entertainment and excitement. Levante
In the northern part of Benidorm, Levante is a vibrant area with a buzzing beach scene, theme parks, plenty of bustling shopping areas, and the highest concentration of clubs and entertainment venues. You can consider the Sol Costablanca hotel, a laidback, adults-only hotel right across from Levante Beach. Or enjoy the simple, modern rooms featuring balconies, and panoramic sea views at the Hotel Cimbel. You can also look at the Hotel Les Dunes Comodoro, which boasts of relaxing suites with private terraces.
Poniente
Best known for its vast stretch of sandy beachfront, Poniente tends to be less crowded, and has a more traditional Spanish appeal. Although a quieter area, you will find a host of cafés and restaurants, and plenty of entertainment within easy walking distance. Stay at the Gran Hotel Delfín set right on the Poniente Beach, or choose the Hotel Poseidon Playa, which is also a beachfront property offering simple rooms with stunning sea views.
Old Town
Often called the Old Quarter, this area is best known for large clusters of boutiques, art galleries, handicraft shops, historic buildings, and charming cobblestone streets. The buzzing plazas in the area feature several traditional taverns and tapas bars, and plenty of outdoor eating options. Experience complete luxury at the Villa Venecia Boutique Gourmet Hotel with chic rooms offering panoramic sea views. Or stay in bright airy rooms of Hotel Benidorm Plaza located in the city centre with easy access to plenty of restaurants, shops, and within a 5-minute walk to the beach. Rincón de Loix
The eastern side of Levante, Rincón de Loix is a vibrant part of Benidorm, with plenty of shops, restaurants, recreational activities, and attractions for all ages. Just 1 kilometre away from the Aqualandia water park, you have the Melia Benidorm hotel which features bright rooms and modern amenities. You can also consider the Palm Beach Hotel set in tropical gardens with plenty of on-site entertainment, including a disco and a mini football pitch.
