BEWARE! The associate who helped me behind the counter provided false information on total cost both for the rental and pre-paying on gas. My bill went from $50 to $222 to drive a car 100 miles and use less than a quarter of a tank of gas. On top of this, when I called customer support, they would not budge because I signed a contract. Will not be using Hertz again.
The company was so understaffed - one person, with at least 25 people waiting in line, and taking over 15-20 minutes per customer. As a result, I was forced to use another company and did not use my reservation - it would have been well past my reservation time before I received my car. Poor, poor, poor.
The young man at the Portland Maine location was in no particular hurry to get the line of 13 waiting customers on their way in a timely manner. He actually seemed bored.
Car smelled like cigarettes, some trash left in car upon pickup.
Everything went well in Portland. The car had pretty high mileage, but it worked okay. Also, not the fault of the Portland staff.
