Oversold mid size SUV (what I paid for and needed for mountain travel)- given minivan. Not safe, caused major travel issues for us. The only other option was a pick up with rear wheel drive. Not safe, won’t be using Avis again. I spent more for a specific type of vehicle and it wasn’t available. Not sure why they would over sell the vehicles and there is no direct line to the Avis Reno office to see if they received the vehicle we needed except driving in and talking to them face to face. Not happy at all with Avis.

The local Avis manager (Kevin something) seems to think that giving you a car 4 hours after your arrival means he "has cars to rent"... then you have to sit in line for nearly another hour waiting to get your rental washed because that's "Avis policy". BULLSHIT! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM AVIS AGAIN!

Would not let me borrow a pick up truck for the day because I’m local unless I had a flight booked. How does that policy make any sense? What a stupid model.

The Customer Service Agent at the checkout desk in Reno was friendly, personable, and informative. :) I think the price paid for one day rental is a bit high these days.

Charges for turning in car 45 minutes late are excessive. Also they charged for a full day for Loss damage waiver when I was 45 minutes over NOT 24 hours. Won't rent from them again.
