The car that they gave me needed brake pads replacement and I exchanged for another one that had a bunch of lights on the dash, they should inspect cars better.

Arrived at appointed time to pick up reserved car to find twenty people in front of me and utter chaos around the desk. Two and one-half hours later, I had the SUV I had reserved a week before. Agents were courteous and efficient, but process was ridiculous.

They have a bottleneck on Saturdays with not enough employees to get the cars turned around quickly for all the vacation travelers coming into Savannah / Hilton Head. It took hours to get a car that was already reserved, even as an Avis Preferred member

I was told that, because I had my own insurance policy if I had an accident I would have to pay a daily fee for each day the vehicle was not rentable. Is this true. I have never heard of this unfair policy before.

Reserved an economy car but they stated none were available and tried to give me an electric vehicle despite there being extremely limited charging stations on Hilton Head and Savannah (I actually didn’t see a single one the whole trip). Instead of a complimentary upgrade they charged us $20 a day for a non-electric luxury vehicle.

The good: Quick and easy pickup, nice car, friendly people. The not-so-good: Car rental rates have rocketed up (I know, I know, supply and demand) so that car rent for a week far exceeds the cost of round trip airfare. That said, I got the best price through Kayak.

Clerk at Drop Off point in Charleston was extremely rude. He wanted to charge us for an upgrade. We were willing to pay from the car we reserved, if that vehicle was not available, that is not our fault. We only paid what we should have, but he ruined the experience for us. No customer service skills.

Not transparent about the stipulations of the rental ahead of time. We were told two days before that a car seat could not be promised on the day of the rental even though I called a month before to add the car seat to the reservation. Truly unacceptable as that’s a pretty vital piece of information to know prior to traveling so as not to be stranded at an airport with a toddler.

Alamo staff, particularly Josh and the managers, went above and beyond to help me. They very promptly returned an item that I had left in the car. It was returned via FedEx and they quickly and kindly addressed my concerns about the return of the item. I am very grateful.

The Toyota did not come with usb charging ports. It only had a cigarette lighter adapter and we did not bring one with us. The car was a 2022 and I just can not imagine that charging a cell phone was not a item included in this car. We own 4 Toyotas and they all have usb ports and none of them are newer than 2019. The car did not have a manual in the glove box; would have been helpful. Staff was friendly and competent.

The staff was very professional. There were no cars in the class category that I reserved but I was offered an option at a very reasonable cost. The vehicle was very comfortable and reasonable on miles per gallon. Returning the car was hassle free.

The rental was actually with Avis and not Enterprise (I cancelled one booking and rebooked). The experience was mediocre because I rented a standard SUV and when I got there they did not have any available. The guy at the counter convinced me the car they had which was like a van would get much better gas mileage than an SUV. It did not and was a rather strange car - had things like auto brakes that I have never had before and scared me when driving and they randomly came on....

The Enterprise staff was friendly and very helpful. I had asked for an economy car and Kayak gave me a luxury car. When we arrived in Savanah the Enterprise rep asked me if the assigned car was okay and I requested a smaller one. The rep put us in an economy car (my initial request) and saved us $200. Maybe I should have rented directly through Enterprise.

I prepaid for a large SUV months in advance. When I arrived at the Hertz counter, I was told I would need to wait an hour for my car because they didn’t have enough in the garage. After an hour, I was offered a Dodge Ram pickup truck, which didn’t work for me because I had 2 babies in car seats. Then, I was finally offered a Dodge Durango (about an hour and a half into waiting). After I signed the contract and went thru the paper work, the employee was about to hand me my keys when another customer walked up to the counter and said his rental car was too small. The employee then gave that customer my Durango which I had spent the last 10 minutes signing a contract for. Hertz gave me the smaller car which barely fit 2 car seats. By this time, I was nearly 2 hours into waiting and just wanted a car to get out of the airport so I took it. On top of that, hertz charged me and extra $2 (two!!) for the smaller car. When I got to the garage, I was surprised to find dozens of Hertz cars sitting in the lot. Since I waited two hours for my car “because they didn’t have any on hand”, it was very frustrating to see. Upon returning the car, all signs said to return the keys to the Hertz desk (all other rental car companies had employees in the garage to help check the car back in). There were no Hertz employees around the desk area. Only company to not have anyone working. Overall, it was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I will never be using Hertz again.

Car was not available when requested, and I was told there was no 7 passenger SUV available, but then was told there was a large van available, but we had to wait for an hour before it could be brought up from a distant lot. Difficult with two small, tired grandchildren after a long day of travel.

Car was not cleaned when I got in ... food in the back seat. Also gas tank was only 3/4 full even when the contract said it was Full. Didn't notice until I was 10 miles from airport. When I returned the car to tell the customer representative at the counter, I was told that since I didn't mention this issue when I picked it up, they could not do anything. Obviously, last time I will rent from Dollar .....

Our flight was delayed and by the time we got to rental car counter, nobody was there to help us. We were stranded. Had to take over a $100 Uber ride to our Airbnb. Very unprofessional. Last person working should have checked reservations and waited for those who were coming in on that late flight...I have never had this happen before.....
