Best places to stay in Anaheim
Anaheim is a true Southern California city. With its pristine beaches and strategic location right between San Diego and Los Angeles, Anaheim is a resort-like city with tons to do. The weather in Anaheim is perfect year-round, and the new downtown Anaheim Packing District, along with the renovated Centre Street Promenade, gives you unlimited opportunities to enjoy that weather and the town itself. Whether you are here on business or you have brought the family to the Disneyland Resort, the specialty shops, sand, surf and craft breweries of Anaheim will entice you to stay for a while. Navigating the areas of California is not easy. Like most major cities, Anaheim has multiple neighbourhoods that act almost like miniature cities, and it is quite spread out. Therefore, plan your hotel location around what you want to do here. After all, the last thing you want is to spend your California vacation stuck in the infamous highway traffic of the city.
Southwest Anaheim
Southwest Anaheim is where you find most tourist attractions and accommodations. It is also a safer option over Downtown Anaheim. The private security, known as Southwest Patrol, monitors neighbourhoods, including tourist areas. When you stay in Southwest Anaheim, you can take Ball Road to the resort area, where you come to Disneyland. The Baymont Inn & Suites Anaheim are located on South Beach Boulevard and offer an affordable stay with excellent access to the main roads.
Colony Historic District
The Anaheim Colony Historic District is the oldest area of Anaheim and features quaint Spanish-style buildings. To stay within walking distance of the historic buildings, stay at the Lemon Tree Hotel & Suites.
Anaheim Resort
The majority of your hotel options are in the Anaheim Resort neighbourhood. Here, you are next to the well-known Orangewood Avenue, Harbor Boulevard and of course, Disneyland. If you are visiting Disneyland, you can stay at the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. For something more affordable, go down the street and stay at the Desert Palms Hotel & Suites. You can still walk to Disneyland, but you save almost $300 USD per night by putting a block or two between you and the resort.
Hermosa Village
Hermosa Village is like its own city within Anaheim. If you want hotels in Anaheim close to Disneyland, but with cheaper prices, you will find hotels nestled into the residential neighbourhoods of Hermosa. Stay at the Motel 6 Anaheim on Brookhurst Street.
Cheap hotels in Anaheim
Anaheim hotels are notoriously expensive, but that is because most hotels are centred around visitors coming to Disneyland. If you want to save money, you need to circle out from the resort and avoid the main streets leading into Disneyland as well as the beaches. While you might see some outrageous prices, do not let them fool you. There are plenty of budget-friendly, clean and safe hotels nestled into those high-priced accommodations too. The Riviera Motel is close to the Anaheim Convention Center and just across from GardenWalk. The Super 8 Anaheim Near Disneyland is on West Katella Avenue and puts you close to the resort, but without the high prices. On South Harbor Boulevard you have the Ramada Anaheim Convention Center, which is just minutes from the famous theme parks of Southern California and right as you come off the I-5.
